The resilience program

The resilience program blends science & somatic practices to give a deeply personal understanding of sustainable performance that your team will not forget. In this four part workshop series, each session builds on the next. Your team will come away with practical tools to stay clear minded under pressure.

The program covers four themes:

  1. Awareness

  2. Managing stress

  3. Building stress resilience

  4. Self leadership

I. Awareness

Many of us never learn how to recognise signals of stress in the body. It might show up as a bad nights sleep, a persistent low lying illness or injury, or snapping at someone when you didn’t mean to.

In this workshop, we talk about our body’s biology. What is actually happening in our bodies when we experience stress, and what happens when we rest.

We then move to the somatic part, to ensure the learning is felt not just heard. Using your breath, we will experiment and observe the sensations of ‘fight or flight’ vs. ‘rest & digest’.

Awareness of our body and nervous system is the foundation of this program.

II. Managing stress

Once we have the tools to become aware of stress and overwhelm, only then can we manage it.

This session builds on the last, exploring what stress looks like when it gets stuck in the body for too long and how to avoid that happening. We dive deeper into the nervous system and polyvagal theory, taking a moment for the team to think about how their nervous system might shift throughout an average work day.

We will dive into breathwork techniques, explaining how and why they work and most importantly, when to use them.

III. Building stress resilience

Stress is a biological response to a threat or fear. But our nervous systems sometimes have trouble telling the difference between a hungry lion coming towards vs. a strongly worded email from your boss.

Part 3 of this program, building stress resilience explores the link between our breath, our Co2 tolerance and our capacity to tolerate stress.

Again, we will begin with the theory and the science before shifting into the practice and the breathing exercises.

IV. Self leadership

Being able to understand what triggers your body into stress is not only helpful in being able to manage that stress, but also in identifying what parts of life and work you might be saying yes to when your body is says no.

Understanding this gives your team the tools required to know their motivations, their limits and their impact on their peers.

Part 4 of this program ties together the learnings from the whole series. Connecting to yourself, regulating yourself and understanding your own intrinsic motivations in order to lead from within.
